On Wednesday, it was confirmed that the levy proposed to fund an aquatic center here in Walla Walla had indeed failed. As unfortunate as that may be for us with families who would have enjoyed a center like that, there are still many opportunities in the area that we can take our children to entertain them. Here are a few suggestions locally.

The Sweet Putt is Walla Walla’s only public miniature golf course. With two courses to choose from: 9 holes inside (opened Dec. 2011), and 18 holes outside (opened March 2012), there is something for everyone. Arcade games? Snack shack? Yep! We will have those too!
Open Daily – Sunday – Thursday 11am – 10pm Friday & Saturday 11am – 11pm
Indoor course $2.50/person for one round and $5.00/person for unlimited play.
Outdoor course $4.50 for kids and $5.50 for adults.
$7.50 buys you a combo pack on both courses.
Private Parties – We are committed to being open to the public during our regularly posted hours. For private parties or events, reservations can be made during times when we are not normally open. If you would like to reserve The Sweet Putt during hours that we are not normally open, please contact us @ 876.4949 or via email. The price for private events or functions is $10.00/guest and requires a 10 guest minimum.

At Fort Walla Walla Museum more than 45,000 artifacts and photographs as well as a Living History series and other events and programs tell the story of the many people who have inhabited the Walla Walla Valley.
The Museum occupies 15 acres within Fort Walla Walla Park, part of the original 640-acre military reservation. It features a spacious Entrance Hall and Exhibit Galleries, four additional exhibit halls, and a pioneer village. The administration building houses two levels of climate-controlled storage and a research library. An early military cemetery lies adjacent to the museum grounds.
HOURS Jan. 2 – Mar. 30: 10-4pm weekdays. Apr. 1 – Dec. 23: 10-5pm everyday.

Walla Walla is proud of the 20 public parks and facilities sprinkled throughout the city, with a total of 600.5 acres of lush recreation area. In Walla Walla’s parks and facilities you can participate in one of the many recreation programs that the recreation division offers.
The Parks & Recreation Department has several picnic areas and facilities which can be reserved. For questions regarding availability and fees, or to make a reservation call the Parks & Recreation office at 527-4527. Reservation fees must be received within 10 days after making your reservation. Reservations are accepted after January 1st for the current year only.
In addition to the opportunities mentioned above, there are pools located in neighboring Prescott, Milton-Freewater and nearby Dayton that are also open to the public during the summer.
There is a vast array of local National parks and recreation sites such as Lake Bennington, Lewis & Clark Campground and Day Park and many more.
